Dear HitchHiker Travelers,
We trust this message finds you well and that your HitchHiker experiences have been both enjoyable and fulfilling. We want to keep you informed about some recent developments that might impact your journeys and rewards.
- Debit Card Restrictions for International Purchases in Egypt:
As some of you may be aware, Egypt has recently imposed restrictions on the use of debit cards for international purchases. This decision was made in an effort to address the selling pressure on the USD. While we understand this may cause some inconvenience, we are here to support you through this situation. - Payment in Egyptian Pounds (EGP) for New Trips:
In light of the debit card restrictions, we have decided to make a temporary adjustment for new trips added on the HitchHiker platform. We will be processing payments in Egyptian Pounds (EGP) for the time being. We believe that these restrictions will likely be lifted after the expected devaluation toward the end of 2023. This change is intended to ensure you can continue to enjoy the HitchHiker experience without disruptions. - Adding an Egyptian Bank Account for Trip Rewards:
We invite all of our travelers to add an Egyptian bank account to receive your trip rewards. You also have the option to use someone else's bank account for this purpose. We understand that these restrictions may affect your ability to receive rewards on your preferred account, but we do not have an exact ETA on when these restrictions will be lifted. Rest assured, we are closely monitoring the situation and will keep you updated. - Optimism for the Future:
We firmly believe that this situation is temporary and will not extend beyond Q1 of 2024. As the global economic landscape evolves and stabilizes, we anticipate that these restrictions will be lifted, allowing us to revert to smoother international payment processes.
We understand that change can be challenging, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate through this temporary situation. Our commitment to providing you with the best possible travel experiences remains unwavering, and we are confident that HitchHiker will continue to be a valuable part of your journeys.
If you have any questions or require further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact our support team. We are here to help in any way we can.
Thank you for being a part of the HitchHiker community, and we look forward to traveling through this transitional period together.
Best regards,
